Jim is a veteran in the wireless telecom industry with over 36 years of experience in the engineering, design, procurement and implementation of wireless and wireline voice/data technologies and facilities. He has specialized in large, highly reliable, wide-area wireless networks for critical infrastructure industries (e.g. Utility and Public Safety), and has participated in hundreds of engagements valued at more than two billion dollars. Jim’s skills include technical assessment, design, strategic sourcing, specification and process development, project management and contract negotiation.
Jim began his career as a systems engineer with Motorola before moving into the consulting industry. In 2008, Jim (along with Richard Townend) founded Altairis Technology Partners, creating a wireless technology engineering firm of seasoned practitioners with hands-on functional skills that specialize in the most technical and operationally complex engagements. Altairis was established to offer a unique blend of technical and business talent, with broad experience in utility, public safety and commercial wireless technologies.
Jim is a founding member of the Utility Telecommunications Consulting Hub (UTECH). UTECH is an association of telecommunications consulting professionals, focused specifically on the Utility market. UTECH unites top experts and specialized consulting firms, combining decades of utility telecom and technology experience, delivering large-firm capabilities with the quality, agility and service of boutique providers.
