Jaewon Saw is a candidate in Systems Engineering at UC Berkeley. Her current research focuses on Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), a cutting-edge technology with diverse applications. She has used DAS to detect whale vocalizations in Monterey Bay, California, and to monitor roadways, water pipelines, and energy infrastructure. Prior to her PhD, she obtained her MSc at Stanford University (where she conducted research as part of the Stanford Urban Resilience Initiative) and her BSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley.
