Dan Sias is a Senior Engineer in the Wireless Engineering group at Southern California Edison (SCE). He began his career with SCE as a summer hire in 1990 before joining the company full-time. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Over the course of his 30-plus-year tenure at SCE, he has served as the lead engineer for the company’s Satellite Communications group. In this role, he has been instrumental in the development and deployment of three legacy satellite networks and most recently led the implementation of SCE’s advanced iDirect Evolution satellite communications network. Dan currently serves as the lead for satellite communications applications at SCE and is spearheading efforts to evaluate and implement Starlink low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology as part of the company’s next phase of network modernization
